Diandre Grant

After suffering a life-changing cervical spinal cord injury, Diandre Grant faced a difficult recovery.

To begin rebuilding his strength and function through intensive therapy, he was referred to Ballard Rehabilitation Hospital, an inpatient medical rehabilitation hospital in San Bernardino.

When Diandre first arrived, he required significant assistance. He was dependent on others to help him turn in bed, complete transfers, and take steps during physical therapy. His injury also affected his ability to care for himself, so he required assistance with everyday tasks, such as dressing.

From the beginning, Diandre worked hard with his therapy team. Over the course of his stay at Ballard Rehab, he continued building strength, function, and confidence.

Diandre made meaningful progress in both mobility and self-care. He advanced from needing total assistance with early walking efforts to walking more than 100 feet with a front-wheeled walker. He also progressed to completing transfers independently, and he made equally important gains in his daily activities.

Each milestone represented an important step forward. Diandre’s progress showed what can be achieved through hard work, intensive rehabilitation, and the support of a dedicated care team.
