Andrew Stewart

Before his injury, Andrew Stewart lived independently and managed his daily life without assistance. But after suffering a serious fracture to his right femur, along with additional medical complications following surgery, everything changed.

Following his hospitalization, Andrew arrived at Ballard Rehabilitation Hospital facing significant challenges. He required assistance with mobility and other everyday tasks that had once been routine.

From the start, Andrew was focused on getting stronger.

At Ballard Rehab, an inpatient medical rehabilitation hospital specializing in intensive therapy and recovery, he began working closely with his physical and occupational therapy teams. His care plan focused on rebuilding strength, improving mobility, and helping him regain independence.

Progress didn’t happen overnight, but Andrew showed up each day ready to put in the work.

With time and consistency, he began to make steady gains. He progressed from needing assistance with nearly all activities to becoming independent with bed mobility, transfers, and standing. As his strength improved, he advanced to walking with supervision, continuing to build confidence and endurance.

By the time of his discharge, Andrew had made meaningful progress toward returning to his daily life. Tasks that once required assistance were now part of his independent routine again.

To mark the end of his stay, Andrew and his care team captured a “graduation” photo to celebrate how far he had come and the effort he put into his recovery.

Andrew, your perseverance and commitment to your recovery have been inspiring. It has been an honor to be part of your journey, and we wish you continued progress as you move forward!
